In the slaughtering process meat produced from meat animals constitutes only one
third of total carcass and the remaining two third are by-products and waste. Effective
utilisation and disposal of by products and wastes are important not only for improved
economic returns from slaughtered animals but also maintaining better sanitation
and public image of the activities. In this laboratory, research works are being
carried out to improve the utilization of slaughter house by-products and wastes.

This laboratory is working on “Utilization of rumen liquor from slaughtered animals
as feed enzyme source and has facilities like Refrigerated centrifuge, Homogenizer,
Spectrophotometer, Incubator, Freeze dryer, pH meter, Water bath and Analytical
balance.
