Technology diffusion triggered by conducting national seminar, workshops, exhibition and demonstrations. This institute transfers the promising meat and meat processing technologies through effective extension efforts to the targeted client system.
Technology generation validated through collaboration, consultation and participation with outside agency updating the knowledge of the gross root personnel carried out by successive refreshment training programmes such as ‘Clean meat production, Scientific rearing of ram lambs for clean meat production, ‘Technology for production of processed meat’ and Awareness workshops on ‘Clean meat production’

Inter-divisional and inter-institutional linkages

1. NRC Meat is a member in the executive board of NMPDB.
2. Director is a member of meat plant inspection committee constituted by the APEDA.
3. Director, NRC Meat interacted with the Canadian agency during the discussion on pork import on the occasion of videoconference conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
4. NRC Meat is implementing NAIP project work in collaboration with Mandava Foundation-an NGO at Nellore, AP.
5. NRC Meat is providing technical expertise to AP State Sheep and Goat Development Co-operative Federation, NAARM, Extension Education Institute- ANGRAU, NABARD, APEDA and DAHD
6. NRC Meat is conducting research project in collaboration with CRIDA, Hyderabad and cooperating with PDP, Rajendranagar on meat quality studies.
In addition to regular institute research projects NRC on Meat is also undertaking few external funded project from different agencies like NAIP, APEDA and DST

Collaboration

Consortia Project, ‘Value chain for clean meat production from sheep’ under component II the World Bank funded National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) was launched on 2nd September 2008 with Sri Venkateshwara Veterinary University (SVVU), Tirupati as consortia partner and Mandava Foundation, Venkatachalam, Animal Husbandry Department, Nellore and Alkabeer Exports Pvt Ltd as Associate Partners.
Major activity of the project is rearing ram lambs to larger weight and developing complete feed using locally available agricultural by-products. This activity was initiated in Mahabubnagar and Nellore district and total of about 1000 ram lambs are being reared under the project. Two complete feed processing units are being established in the activity area under the project. To promote clean meat production two slaughterhouses are being established one each at Mahabubnagar and Tirupati
With APEDA collaboration, a project on “Development of training aids and training of personnel in export meat Industry for quality assurance” is running to serve the multi level people who all are engaged in meat sector development.
With Industry collaboration, a project on “Multi benefits through heavy broilers production” is running to reduce the production cost, consumer cost, easy deboning, higher breast meat yields, and larger chunks for better product processing.
With sanctioning of new project entitled “Proteomics of lipid oxidation induced oxidation of buffalo and goat meat myoglobins” from Department of Science and Technology, NRC is in the process of establishing facilities for proteomics and meat quality studies.
